Another Disability Tax that I wager most able-bodied people don’t think about – for those of us that use backpacks in our lives, it’s more than slightly annoying to have to outfit two of them. One for ambulating, and a second for wheelchair usage.
Luckily it’s not a one-to-one duplicate (regular gloves vs wheelchair gloves, umbrella vs poncho, etc.) of every single item, and there are high-ticket items that are not worth doubling up on (for example, my powerbank). However, there is enough that IS to be financially annoying, besides the cost of two decent-quality backpacks (I’m running the Jansport Adaptive Backpack on my chair).
T-11 days and counting until the new chair arrives…
